What is NDIA?
Also known as: National Disability Insurance Agency
The NDIA is the Commonwealth agency that administers the NDIS. It assesses eligibility, approves participant plans and budgets, sets the price limits providers may charge, and pays claims submitted by registered providers. It is distinct from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, which regulates provider conduct.
Providers interact with the NDIA mainly through the myplace provider portal and, increasingly, through PACE. The Agency sets the Support Catalogue price limits, processes bulk payment requests, and issues remittance advice when claims are paid.
It is worth keeping the two bodies straight: the NDIA holds the money and the plans, while the NDIS Commission holds registration, the Practice Standards, worker screening and reportable incidents. A compliance question usually belongs to the Commission; a payment question usually belongs to the Agency.
