Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 9 June 2026

Rostery is a product of Notion Tech Pty Ltd (ACN 698 318 124). We build software for disability and aged-care providers, and for the participants and families they support. Software in that setting has an obligation to be usable by people with disability that goes beyond the legal minimum, and we would rather be measured against that.

1. Our commitment

We are working to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, the standard referenced by the Australian Human Rights Commission in its guidance on the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth). This applies to our public website, the Rostery web application, the participant, family, provider and coordinator portals, and our mobile apps.

2. What this means in practice

  • Keyboard. Every interactive control can be reached and operated without a mouse, and the focus indicator is always visible.
  • Screen readers. Headings, landmarks, form labels and error messages are marked up so assistive technology can announce them. Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative graphics are hidden from the accessibility tree.
  • Contrast. Text meets the 4.5:1 minimum (3:1 for large text), and interface components and focus indicators meet 3:1.
  • Zoom and reflow. Content reflows to 400% zoom and to a 320 px viewport without horizontal scrolling or loss of function.
  • Motion. We honour the operating system’s reduce motion setting: animation is removed and content is presented without movement. Nothing on our sites flashes more than three times per second.
  • Colour is never the only signal. Status is carried by text or shape as well as colour, so it is readable with any form of colour vision.
  • Time limits. Sessions warn before they expire and can be extended.
  • Plain language. Errors say what went wrong and how to fix it, rather than quoting a code.

3. Known limitations

We would rather name these than imply the product is fully conformant when parts of it are not. As at the date above, we are aware of the following:

  • The scheduler grid. The drag-and-drop roster is a complex interface. Every action it offers is also available through a keyboard-accessible form, but the grid itself is not yet a full keyboard equivalent.
  • Map views. Live tracking and route maps are visual. The same information is available as an accessible list of visits, times and addresses.
  • Uploaded documents. Files uploaded by providers — care plans, service agreements, PDFs from third parties — are outside our control and may not be accessible. We do not alter customer documents.
  • Older exported reports. Some PDF exports do not yet carry full tagging. Equivalent data is available as CSV and XLSX, which screen readers handle well.

These are being worked through, and this statement will be updated as each is resolved rather than quietly dropped.

4. Assessment

Our accessibility position is assessed by a combination of automated testing in our build pipeline, manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, and review against the WCAG 2.2 success criteria. Automated tools catch roughly a third of accessibility issues; the rest need a person, so we do not rely on a passing scan alone.

5. Tell us about a barrier

If you cannot use part of Rostery, we want to hear about it, and we treat it as a defect rather than a request. Email [email protected] with the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you were using if any.

We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days and to give you a substantive response, including a fix or a timeframe, within 10 business days. If we cannot make something accessible quickly, we will offer another way to complete the task in the meantime.

6. If you are not satisfied

If we have not resolved your concern, you can complain to the Australian Human Rights Commission, which handles complaints under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth). Making a complaint is free.
