A participant statement and a Services Australia claim describe the same month from two directions. Producing them from different sources is how a provider ends up explaining why the statement says one thing and the claim says another.
Aged care statements claims — how it works
Statements are generated per participant per period from the services delivered: opening balance, subsidy, supplements, contributions, fees, expenditure and closing balance, with the individual service lines behind them. Claims are assembled from the same records, with accrued fees and contributions accounted for.
Claims carry their submission and payment dates, the amount claimed and the amount received, and the variance between them. A shortfall is a number on the claim rather than a discrepancy someone notices later in the bank account.
Why it matters for NDIS providers
Aged-care revenue arrives monthly and in arrears, so an unreconciled claim is a month of cash flow at risk. Statements are also a participant-facing document, which means an error in one is an error the participant sees.
- One source, two documents: the statement and the claim are produced from the same delivery record.
- Variance is explicit: claimed against received, with the difference shown rather than inferred.
- Line-level statements: each service line shows cost, subsidy and contribution.
